We do this out of love for community, culture, preservation, and because it is a constant adventure! Our children will have a savage legacy to carry on.
The story of how the vineyard came to be is a long one. It involves a lot of tragedy, a lot of discovery and research, and a lot of love. The short version is that Joseph (the founder) was given a dying 30+ year old muscadine. He planted it outside of his home to remember the plant's previous gardener, Joseph's grandmother. He was expecting it to fail, as all of the other ones that were given to his cousins had. Instead of just simply holding to life, it quickly recovered, and actually flourished. It even started fruiting the following year. So how did a healthy American Grape vine turn in to Cajun Vineyards? Farming is a small part, preserving the memory of loved ones is a larger part, incorporating 9+ generations of Cajun spirit is yet another. Any profits will go to CyberTronic.Solutions and charities. CTS works with Veterans and College Students to collaborate with Small Businesses. The muscadine's skin and seeds contain cancer fighting compounds and are very high in antioxidents. While wine is amazing, the primary role of Cajun Vineyards is agricultural research and development, and health benefits. We do make wine, but it is small batch, and usually given to family and friends. Aside from muscadine grapes, Cajun Vineyards is also busy investing time and resources with various blackberry and elderberry plants. |
